ISACM and JBBS 2023 OSAKA

General Information

Welcome message

It is my great pleasure and honor to invite you to the joint meeting of the 8th Meeting of the International Society for the Advancement of Clinical Magnetoencephalography (ISACM) and the 38th Annual Meeting of Japan Biomagnetism and Bioelectromagnetics Society (JBBS), to be held in Osaka from May 24th to 27th 2023.

Recently, progress in clinical MEG seems to be somewhat stagnant. In addition, due to COVID-19, the 8th meeting of ISACM was postponed for two years. Meanwhile, however, many technological advancements such as new magnetic sensors, AI-based automated spike detection and spinal magnetic source imaging increased the feasibility for clinical application. The theme ‘Revolution for Renaissance’ reflects my expectation that these advancements may promote progress in clinical MEG. All participants will find many opportunities to discuss these cutting edge technologies and their clinical applications.

Osaka, the second largest city in Japan with two large down towns, Umeda and Namba, has been flourishing as a business city since more than 450 years ago. The city is located in the heart of Japan, within one hour from historical cities: Kyoto, and Nara. This year’s meeting will be hosted near both down towns and Osaka Castle (a famous samurai’s, large castle). This location is also very convenient for sightseeing in Kyoto and Nara.

I look forward to welcoming you to Osaka in 2023.

Masayuki Hirata, MD & PhD
Conference Chair, the Joint Meeting of ISACM and JBBS 2023
President, ISACM
Professor, Osaka University Graduate School of Medicine
